While filming my latest video out at Gold, the Scientologist in the guard shack pulled aside the shade in his window to point something in my direction — something that shined brightly on my camera lens. I didn’t catch it until I came home and looked at the video on my computer.
It has become a major focus of discussion of YouTube and Facebook. What is it that is producing the glare? My feeling is that it is a camera whose lens is catching the glare of the sun. The position of the object is rock steady as though it were mounted on a tripod. It appears to be a round lens when you look at a frame without the glare.
Others theorize that it is a bright light or laser being shined into the lens to ruin the taping. Whatever it was, it made me smile when I saw it on tape. Scientology can’t help but make themselves look creepy.
Over at Why We Protest, Sponge has created a fun image based on this event.
Thanks for your continued support as I begin filming the documentary. There are a lot of people to be interviewed, scattered all around the world so your financial assistance is greatly appreciated to pay for the travel and crew expenses. We will make a terrific film that should start hitting the festival circuit late next year.
